There’s a lot to do on Patrick’s and his parents’ farm and for a long time Patrick’s father has wanted a tractor. Patrick knows that a neighbour would give him a tractor if Patrick gave him two cows for it. However, as Patrick’s parents only have roosters and pigs, he must first exchange a few of them for cows in order to be able to surprise his father with the tractor.

Brief instructions:

The players throw the dice and on their way over the game board they collect the illustrated animals. If they reach one of the two farmhouses, they may exchange animals. The first to have two cows will get the tractor and be the winner of the game.

Game preparation:

The game board and the dice are laid out. The Illustrations on the signs show how the animals can be exchanged later.

Sign with 3 pigs: It is set up on the meadow in the middle of the game board. This area is marked with a pig and all pigs are placed on it.

Sign with 3 roosters: It is set up in front of the henhouse. This meadow has a picture of a rooster and all the roosters are placed there.

Sign with 2 cows: This is set up on the meadow with the picture of the cow. The 5 cows are placed there too.

Each player is given one figure and puts it on one of the two farmhouse fields. The tractor is placed on the place marked for it.

Rules of the game:

The youngest player throws the dice and moves his/her figure in the direction of the arrow in accordance with the number of dots that come up on the dice. If he lands on a field with the picture of one or two animals, he takes the illustrated animal(s) from the respective meadow and places it/them in front of him. It is then the next player’s turn. If he lands on one of the two farmhouse fields, he exchanges his collected animals (as illustrated on the signs, or see below) if he has been able to collect enough animals. If he does not have enough animals to exchange yet, it is the next player’s turn. If the farmhouse comes up on the dice, he puts his figure on one of the two farmhouses immediately and swaps his collected animals (as illustrated on the signs or see below). It is then the next player’s turn.

Once again, here are the rules for swapping, as shown on the signs:

Player has 3 roosters: he puts the roosters back on the meadow and takes 1 pig for them.

Player has 3 pigs: he puts the pigs back on the meadow and takes 1 cow for them.

Player has 2 cows: he puts the cows back on the meadow and takes the tractor for them and is then the winner of the game.

End of the game:

The first to have two cows, swaps them immediately for the tractor and is the winner of the game.

Notes:

It is permissible for several figures to be on the same field. If a player wants to swap and there are no more of the animal he wants on the board at that point in time, he cannot take any animal and misses a turn.
